A Selling Guide: For You

We know that a lot of you that come to sell on REMI will have either dabbled in buying or selling secondhand clothing before. But, if we happen to have some fresh faces to the resell space, we have put together a basic guide with simple pointers, key things to think about when it comes to selling some of your clothing or accessories.

Your Profile

REMI was set up not just for the individual trying to declutter their wardrobe. It was designed with many different users in mind including side hustlers, resellers, charity and community groups and business entrepreneurs. REMI was also designed with a social experience in mind, so the profile design is set up similar to a social media profile.

Choose a profile picture that reflects why are your using REMI. Do a detailed profile description and establish an identity with your photography so that people will follow you! We may even feature you as a seller on our homepage or on our socials!

Seasonal listings

Listing seasonal items is highly effective and can influence buyer behavior and increase your chance of sales. Buyers are often looking for items that match the current season or the upcoming season (if they are really on to it) such as coats for the winter or long dresses for the summer. Listing these items ensures your listings are relevant to buyers and are at the top of the search list making them more likely to be purchased. In season items can often be sold at higher prices due to higher demand and more searches. Their relevance triggers impulse buying and spontaneous purchases especially on a resale platform where items are generally one offs. On Remi, a buyer can follow your profile and keep up to date with any new listings you put up. If you are posting seasonal items, this will increase your engagement with that buyer and they are more likely to follow, return to your profile and keep up to date with your listings.

Here are some quick hot tips for listing seasonal clothing
  1. Timing (start listing one-two months before the season begins)
  2. Use season related words in your title and descriptions (for search functionality)
  3. Highlight the season specific features
  4. Create bundles of items that go together in a season
  5. Offer discounts towards the end of the season

Setting the Correct Price

Here are some things to consider when setting a price for your listing
  • Research other listings (look at similar items and consider its features (brand, size, condition))
  • Consider the brand (high end brands vs fast fashion brands)
  • Include key words in the title
  • Clearly evaluate the condition (table can be found in our FAQ’s)
  • Seasonality – a higher demand for in season clothing vs out of season
  • Use the original price as a baseline
  • Account for platform commission and decide if you want to include shipping costs within the price or add it separately

Do a Detailed Description

A detailed and correct description of the item is important for attracting buyers. The more details you can give the more the buyer can understand exactly what the item is like and the less questions they will have that may deter them from buyer. Remember most of us lead busy lives and people are time poor, so the more you can tell them about your item, the less time they must think about whether it matches what they are looking for.

The obvious descriptors such as sizing, material type, brand and colour are crucial for matching search functionality and helping people to find your listing.

Some extra things to mention in your description include
  1. Fit (does the item run small or large)
  2. Care Instructions (how to look after the fabric type ie: machine washable etc)
  3. Condition (note any wear and tear)
